Ingredients

1 lb brown sugar
1/2 lb butter
4 cups flour
2 cups molasses
2 cups boiling water
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt

Directions

Mix brown sugar, butter and flour until crumbly. Reserve 2 cups crumbs. Arrange remaining crumbs on bottom of 9 X 13 inch baking pan and press down.
Mix well molasses, boiling water, baking soda, and salt. Pour mixture over crumbs. Top with reserved crumbs. Bake at 350 deg. for 45 minutes. Allow to cool before cutting into squares.
