An Opryland recipe

8 cups flour
4 TBSP baking powder
1 ½ TBSP baking soda
1/3 cup butter
½ cup lard (I use shortening)
2 cups Cheddar cheese, shredded
1 cup sour cream
4 cups buttermilk


Mix flour, baking powder and soda. Cut butter and lard (or shortening) into the dry ingredients until it resembles coarse meal. Stir in cheddar. Mix sour cream and buttermilk and stir into dough. Drop by TBSP on a lightly greased baking sheet and bake at 425 deg until brown (about 15 minutes).
