Boston Baked Beans Wednesday, January 4, 2012

Ingredients

1 pound dry white Northern beans
1 cup onion, diced fine
2 slices bacon cut into small pieces
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 TBSP brown mustard
2 TBSP ketchup
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
3 cups water

Directions

Soak beans in water overnight. Drain and rinse. Place all ingredients into a slow cooker; set on low. Cook for 6 to 8 hours. The bacon is completely optional in this recipe. Leave it out and you have a nice vegan side dish.
