Cornbread Apple Crunch Friday, April 25, 2008


2 cans apple pie filling
1 cup crumbled cornbread
1 stick butter
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup nuts (walnuts, pecans or almonds will all work)
1/2 tsp cinnamon


Spread the apples evenly in a 7x11" baking dish. Mix the cornbread crumbs, sugar, and the flour. Work the butter in until the mixture makes large crumbs and no butter shows. Stir in cinnamon and nuts. Spread the crunch mixture over the apples and bake in a preheated 350 deg oven about 30 minutes or until apples are bubbly and the topping is browned nicely. This is not bad with some ice cream.
