Ingredients

1 ½ cup sifted plain flour
½ tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
½ cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
½ tsp vanilla
1 cup mixed candied fruit, finely chopped
½ cup nuts, chopped

Directions

Stir together flour, baking soda and salt. Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, beat well. Blend candied fruits and nuts with flour mixture; blend into creamed mixture. Drop by tspful on an ungreased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. These cookies spread as they bake. Bake at 350 deg for 8 to 10 minutes or until brown. Allow to cool on the cookie sheet about 3 to 4 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
