Ingredients

1 stick butter
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
2 cups plain flour
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp vanilla
2 squares unsweetened baking chocolate, melted and cooled

Directions

Melt the butter and sugar and allow to cool. Beat in eggs. Mix flour, baking powder and salt and stir into the butter mixture. Add the vanilla and mix thoroughly. Pour about 3/4 of the batter into a greased 9x13” pan and spread evenly. Blend melted chocolate into remaining batter and spoon over the caramel mixture in a pleasing pattern. Bake at 350 deg about 25 to 30 minutes. Do not overbake. Cut into squares while still warm.
