Ingredients

Given to my by Chris McMurry who got the secret recipe from some unidentified source

1 cup butter (or shortening)
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, lightly beaten
2 ¾ cups flour
2 tsp soda
2/3 cup oats (standard rather than quick cooking)

Directions

Blend butter and peanut butter, cream in sugars and then eggs. Mix soda and flour and work into the mixture. Add oats and mix completely. Roll into 1 inch balls and flatten with a fork making a criss-cross pattern. Bake in a 400 deg oven about 10 minutes or just until starting to brown. Cool on pan a couple of minutes before transferring to a rack to cool completely. While these cookies are good alone, they cry out to be eaten with a glass of cold milk.
