Alexander Wilson is normally full of life and loves to play. But, the three year old hasn't been himself. He's fighting a childhood cancer.
Tim Wilson, his dad says, "The tumor is in his right lung and traveled through the pulmonary vein into his left atrium."
He had been Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville undergoing chemo, and was on a ventilator for more than a month.
"It's hard when you can't even pick up your child and hold them and tell them it's going to be ok," says Wilson.
"We just try to stay strong for him so he knows there are people fighting just as hard as he is."
The family has been finding support through social media.
"We started his facebook page as a way to keep family in touch. Through friend sharing and the community there's been an outcry of support by people letting us know their thoughts and prayers are with us."
Alexander's uncle, Johnathon Johnson says, "I know it means a lot to them that we are helping out as much as we can. I hate to see my little nephew up there."
Johnathon has come up with an idea to raise money. He set up a softball tournament at Loudon Municipal Park for Saturday, June 21st. Money raised will help pay Alex's medical bills and medicine.
Alex's uncle says, "I plan to have a good crowd and people out here supporting my nephew and having fun."
Players and spectators encouraged!
