WEST KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- Two of Knoxville's favorite musicians, Dave Landeo and Jaystorm sang, as the Local 8 News morning crew rang bells for the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Media Day.
They were the headliners of the entertainment at the West Town Mall during outside of Forever 21 and Tommy Hilfiger from 4-6pm, Thursday.
Other guests included the City of Gatlinburg's inflatable Santa, Mrs. Claus, a gingerbread, candy cane and penguin.
Sharky form Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies showed off his break- dancing skills. He came from Gatlinburg along with Zeno the Gatlinburg Bear and Betty the Otter from Smoky Mountain Outdoors.
CiCi's pizza gave out free pizza buffets to people donating $5 or more.
A banner with "WVLT-TV Ringing Bells for the Salvation Army" flew up above, compliments of Low and Slow Banner Tow of Knoxville and Action Air Charter.
The Knoxville Zoo brought an owl and an eagle in which the guests got to take pictures with and learn all about.
WIVK the Frog did some dancing for donations along with Bubba Gump Shrimp (from Gatlinburg.)
And everyone needs a little Santa at Christmas time! Five year old David Fri dressed as a smaller version of the jolly ole elf and collected $5 for every picture made with him. He handed out candy canes and handed the money he made over to the Salvation Army!
The Salvation Army has a campaign goal of $600,00 so they can share Christmas with thousands of needy boys and girls and to help fund other programs they support through the year. They are 1/3 of the way to their goal as of December 06, 2012
