KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- You see her on the news desk everyday at WVLT-TV.
But before work, Amanda Hara's on her feet at the Academy Ballroom with dance instructor Jeremy Norris.
Jeremy says, "We're on our 5th lesson. We have five to go and she's doing really really good."
The two have been practicing for the upcoming Star 102.1 Dancing with the Knoxville Stars event on March 22 at the Expo Center.
Amanda says, "We're dancing to a compilation of Lady Gaga. All fun songs. We are doing the cha cha and tango, a combination of both."
The competition benefits East Tennessee Children's Hospital.
Winning couples take home trophies for fundraising and the dancing.
"I want to win both, no one has ever won both. We're in it to win it," says Jeremy.
And to help them out, some generous guests dropped by with gifts.
First, Jack Stalker of Papa Murphy's Take and Bake Pizza.
"I brought you something for your practice. I know you're hungry. Nourish your soul. And, here's a check for ETCH. Enjoy that and enjoy the check, says Jack. "
And then Roger Cunningham of the Bed Store came by with the best pillow on the market.
"I know you're been practicing real hard. I brought you a pillow. I want you to get a good night's sleep, rest up and win this thing. And, a little something for the kids, says Cunningham."
And, yet another surprise visitor, a dentist. Dr. Josh Eades of Tennessee Valley Dental.
"We're going to check on that beautiful smile of yours.Want to make sure you look perfect for the event. And, it all looks good. While I am here, here's a check for ETCH."
Those three guests and gifts including checks for the hospital gave Amanda and Jeremy a lot to smile about.
Amanda says, "Its' really heartwarming to see so many people come and out and support us. Support the hospital. Thank you!"
There's only two weeks left to polish their routine and their volunteer spirit!
