WEST KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- Local dentist Joshua Eades sees about 20-25 patients a day, who require a broad spectrum of procedures.

But when Remote Area Medical clinics come to town, Dr Eades of Tennessee Valley Dental treats almost double that amount. Close to 40 people who have more complicated problems.

Eades says, "At RAM it's more concentrated on emergency type stuff, getting people out of pain, out of infections."

Doctor Eades and some of his staff put in countless hours during the volunteer run clinics, only to get a smile in return .

"A lot of it is getting people out of pain, getting people more comfortable, making them smile, according to Eades.

There are also eye doctors to help people see better and general practice docs to make people feel better.

Usually about 1200 patients seek care.

Ron Brewer Director of Ram says the doors open for the patients at 6:00am, but doctors will work until they are just too exhausted, trying to see everyone.

"About 95 percent that come are for vision and dental. And, people have the need so bad they will drive 2-3 hours just for the services, it's not just for the local people," according to Brewer.

Aside from helping with RAM when they come to town, Dr. Eades also helps out with the Friends of Literacy.

He is one of several bachelors up for auction on February 8th.

Again, a charitable cause.

"That didn't require a lot of arm twisting, it sounded like a great deal of fun, " says Dr. Eades.

The auction starts at 6:30 pm on February 8th at Rothchild's in West Knoxville.
