Volunteer Spirit: Free Story time Thursdays entertains and educates your little ones

WEST KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- Parents who could use a bit of a break and have someone else entertain their children, need to stop by Smart Toys and Books on Thursday mornings.

Helen Picou chooses a theme each week and then selects a series of books to read to the children who gather in the reading room for story time.

Picou says, "Sharing books with kids, is the best thing an adult can do. Kids who have books of their own and are read to by adults and witness adults reading books for pleasure succeed in life. They do well in school, they learn to read quickly."

The free weekly story time is at 11:00 am and lasts about 45 minutes.

Smart Toys & Books is on Kingston Pike in the Franklin Shopping Plaza next to Chop House.
