WEST KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- Both rooms of "Painting with a Twist" filled up, as participants brushed up on their volunteer spirit for 7 year old Piper Smith.
PWAT is a painting studio where an art instructor shows you step by step how to paint the picture that is chosen for that class or party.
Patty Peden Walden, owner of PWAT says it was the largest turnout for a painting fundraiser at her studio.
Every Participant paid $35.
Twenty-five from each one went to the cause.
Ten dollars goes towards the supplies like the canvas, brushes and paint.
Even the instructors volunteered their time and talents.
For Piper's painting party and fundraiser, the group painted a butterfly.
Barry Jenkins, the art instructor says he chose it because it has all of Piper's favorite colors and it's full of life.
Piper lives in Johnson City, but the painting event shows she's getting a lot of support from folks in Knoxville.
She needs a new kidney, a very costly transplant operation.
Her medical bills have been piling up, especially since she is battling many medical conditions.
Her mother Pamela says the kidney is the top priority right now.
Piper has been diagnosed with renal kidney failure.
But Smith family members have been rejected as donors for different reasons.
She is on the waiting list.
But her cheer leading coach, a 22 year old has stepped up and is going through the testing to see if she is a match.
Piper tells us that when she gets her new kidney she is ready to get back to swimming, cheering and dancing.
PWAT raised more than $2300 dollars.
A couple of Piper's new friends Carrigan Jenkins and Katie Jenkins sold rubber bracelets with her name on them during the event to help collect even more cash.
