Volunteer Spirit: "Ade"ing homeless pets

KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- They are not only step sisters, they are entrepreneurs.

Together, Morgan Morton Killeffer and Veronica Killeffer raised $969.00 that will be used for vet and pet care at the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley.

This wil include surgery for broken legs on some of the four legged animals.

The girls set up a lemonade stand at their house during the weekend of Greekfest a few weeks ago and caught traffic going by with "lemonade, water and puppies!"

The girls say they used puppies form the shelter, to lure traffic to stop and sip some of their concoction.

They sold each drink for $1.00.

Morgan says, "It's really good to raise money for the shelter. They have a lot of animals they have to take care of. They have a lot of things they need to buy for the animals."

Veronica says, "I am very surprised we raised that much money. I just yelled lemonade, water, puppies!"

The girls plan to do it again next year and hope to raise even more than $1,000!
