American Quilter's Society/Show
DOWNTOWN KNOXVILLE- Tenn (WVLT) -- More than 600 Quilts are on display at the Knoxville Convention Center for the American Quilter's Society show this week.
500 quilters from 32 countries competed for more than $44,000 in prize money.
For some, quilting is a hobby. For others, it is a trade, and some do it to give them away as gifts.
Kate Meyers has her hand in "Quilts of Valor."
She makes about 8 a month.
Kate is the Tennessee Coordinator of the foundation that gives patriotic patchwork to people touched by war.
She tells us it's a way to say thank you to them (soldiers) for their service and for keeping us safe."
