KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- Little voices can be heard on the bottom floor of Mount Olive Baptist Church East.
It's the Garden of Discovery Learning Center.
Principal Monica Smith-Albright says, "It's a small christian academy with no more than 12 students per class. 70 percent are from low income households."
And once a year at Valentine's Day and the days leading up Smith-Albright, board members and church ladies hand dip strawberries for "Hearts for Children" campaign.
She says, "We put hearts to it because it is Valentines Day and a nice ring saying your heart is in for the children in our community. Last year we brought in over 10-thousand dollars for our school. We sold 450 boxes."
Smith-Albright, board members and church ladies spend "long days" leading up to February 14th.
She says"You can get white chocolate, milk chocolate, berries dipped in pecans, berries dipped in mini chocolate chips and strawberries dipped in coconut."
And if the treats aren't perfect enough, she says, "The presentation is what sells the strawberries. Our customers from last two years love the boxes."
The boxes are brown and pink striped with a window and wrapped in a pink bow!
One of the ladies said, "This is what we call tender loving care."
