KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- They are VolunTEENS. Teenage volunteers who dedicate 4 hours for 2 weeks in the summer to entertain the young patients at East Tennessee Children's Hospital.

Micah Troyer, a VolunTEEN, says he enjoys seeing the smiles on kids faces as they bring games and toys from the playrooms into their hospital rooms.

Jodi Sexton has been volunteering for three years and loves it. She is even going into nursing to make treating patients a full time career.

They occupy the kids while they have to wait for the doctor or registration with coloring or crafts. They also help out with paperwork.

Cheryl Allmon, the Director of Volunteer Services at ETCH says they (volunteens) bring another level of energy to the hospital and look forward to their help every summer.

Teens ages 14-18 can sign up for the VolunTEEN program in January for the following summer.
