Volunteer Spirit: Wearing Compassion

WEST KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- She created countless pieces for her company, "Box of Pearls," and now Amanda Henry Thompson is creating jewelry with a purpose.

She says, "While watching the news, all the devastation from tornadoes, It was making me reflect on how lucky we are, I have this family, baby girl and this house. We all love each other. We need to be doing something for the people who aren't as fortunate."

That's when the compassion heart was born.

She recalls, "I started googling some shapes I could make my own and some definitions of compassion. I ran across one that says compassion means love and emotion. Gosh that's great, that's the thought I wanted to get across."

The hearts are made of copper, brass or nickel.
Bracelets are $6, Necklaces start at $20. Half of the proceeds go to The American Red Cross to (first) help the victims of the Tennessee tornadoes.
