SWEETWATER, Tn.(WVLT)-- This barnyard of animals is a kids dream.
Welcome to Purdy's Petting Zoo located in Sweetwater, Tennessee.
Six acres of just about every animal and close enough to pet.
Like this likeable camel.
Melissa and Mark Purdy turned their farm into a destination point for children about six years ago.
Melissa says, "Then we started collecting animals and we had a small birthday party for my son and the birthday party was goats and basic animals and
then everyone asked if i would do their parties".
Those parties grew larger, so did Mark's collection of animals.
"One day he called, I teach school he said, what do you think about a camel?, Melissa said.
Now there's over 100 animals.
Garrett, a student at Madisonville Elementary school said,"It's really really cool, there's wild animals from all over the world, here in Tennessee, which you don''t see
everyday, so that's why its really cool".
Including Frankie the turtle .
"Frankie is named after the character of the book and all the kids get to ride him when they come in, you might think he's slow, but
he's pretty fast. he's 50 years old"
There's goats, zonkies, even a pond to fish.
For these Madisonville School children it's a blast. Driving in your neighborhood, I'm the Tennessee Traveler.
