Roane County (WVLT) – A Roane County man facing second degree murder charges has taken a plea deal.
Apollo Nichols, 21, was accused of stabbing David Midkiff to death at a home on Buttermilk Road last October.
As part of the plea agreement, Nichols pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and felony reckless endangerment for hitting a woman with his car after the stabbing.
The prosecutor recommended that Nichols serve six years for manslaughter charge and one year for the reckless endangerment.
Both sentences will be served at the same time and he will receive credit for 18 months already served.
If judicial diversion is granted he will be required to undergo a mental health evaluation, maintain regular employment, and undergo drug screenings.
