Knoxville (WVLT) The verdict is in.

A monumental day for the people of Knox County and the Knox County commission.

The jury decided the Knox County Commission violated the state's Open Meetings Act.

Volunteer TV's Kim Bedford has more reaction.

Many say history was made today, when a verdict came down around 1:30.

The 12 member jury unanimously favored the plaintiffs in all 29 questions, saying the Knox County Commission violated the Sunshine Law, with all 12 term-limited appointments, by deliberating before and during the January 31st meeting in private.

So what's next?

By law, Chancellor Daryl Fansler has to come up with a written ruling, based on the jury's verdict.

Fansler expects to have that on Thursday, and the plaintiff's attorneys expect his ruling to say the January 31st meeting was void, and therefore, never happened.

Law director John Owings says they'll most likely file a few motions in the next couple of days asking the court for further guidance in this monumental ruling.

"We had a jury who have gone through the facts of this case and they've decided the facts. The facts are contrary to Knox County, to Knox County Commission, and we're going to do our best to honor those facts. "

Owings says once Fansler's ruling comes down, he plans to call for a county commission workshop to discuss options on what they'll do next.

Owings was quick to point out that the public will be invited to that meeting.
