(WVLT) - Water restrictions are now in effect for homes and businesses in Alcoa as well as Maryville.
The Alcoa restrictions went into effect at midnight Wednesday morning while Maryville's restrictions started Tuesday.
Because of the drought conditions and the low flow of the Little River, homeowners in both cities have been under mandatory restrictions on outdoor water use since Friday.
Now the outside water restrictions have now been expanded to include businesses as well.
Many workers say they realize they have to take a back seat to others that need the water more.
Both Alcoa and Maryville are also asking residents to try and cut back on their indoor water use as well.
