NEW DETAILS: Eli Fortner Condition Update

KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) An update on Eli Fortner's condition.

The youngest member of the southern gospel group "The McKameys" underwent a kidney transplant Tuesday.

We spoke with Fortner's mother, Connie, today.

She tells us Eli has exceeded doctor's expectations following his kidney transplant yesterday.

Eli is sitting up in bed as he continues to recover.

Eli's father Roger, who gave him a kidney, is up and walking around.

13 year-old Eli Fortner has been living with kidney problems since he was a baby.
