Gov. Bredesen Trying to Prevent Future Sunshine Law Violations, Trials

KNOXVILLE, Tenn -- Governer Phil Bredesen says he is doing what he can to avoid more lawsuits like the sunshine trial here in Knoxville.

Gov. Bredesen says a newly created ombudsman position will help handle disputes about public records.

After this week's guilty verdict, Gov. Bredesen says he will even consider expanding those responsibilities.

An ombudsman is an official, usually appointed by the government, who is charged with representing the interests of the public.
