Water Problems Close Some Schools in Jefferson County

Jefferson County (WVLT) - Water problems in Jefferson County have forced officials to close some schools.

A 16-inch pipe broke Sunday morning at the Jefferson City Water Treatment Plant.

The discharge line is used to supply water to Dandridge and Shady Grove.

Some homes and businesses in both areas still don't have water.

Those who do have extremely low pressure and are being asked to conserve for now.

Crews at the plant are still working to repair the problem and hope to have it fixed by 6 or 7 am Monday morning.

Jefferson County dispatchers ask all residents not to call 9-1-1 or dispatch.

Jefferson County Schools are closed Monday, along with the Dandridge Christian Learning Center.

Watch East Tennessee This Morning beginning at 5:30am for the latest school closings.
