Knox County (WVLT) - Police have taken a child in Knox County into custody after a report him bringing a gun on the school bus.
At about 4:30 p.m., the driver of Knox County Bus #39 reported a 12 year-old boy with a gun on the bus.
Knox County Sheriff's Deputies and Knoxville Police officers stopped the bus near Lyons Bend Road and Northshore about ten minutes later and took the child into custody.
They say the weapon was a pellet gun and there were no threats made on board.
But, police took the boy into custody because of his "intent to carry" a weapon on campus.
The boy is a student at Bearden Middle School.
That school's principal will decide if any disciplinary action will be taken.
The Knoxville Police Department says the boy will be charged with disorderly conduct.
