Monroe County (WVLT) – Two East Tennessee soldiers who gave their lives in Iraq will be honored Saturday in Sweetwater.

That is when the town’s National Guard Armory will officially be dedicated to Staff Sgt. Victoir P. Lieurance and Sgt. Joseph D. Hunt.

SSgt. Lieurance and Sgt. Hunt were killed in action on August 22, 2005 when a roadside bomb detonated near their Humvee during a patrol in Samarra, Iraq.

They were both members of the 278th Regimental Combat Team.

The dedication will begin at 1:30 PM with music by the 129th Army National Guard Band.

The armory is located at 1318 Highway 68 East in Sweetwater.

Everyone in the public is invited to attend.
