Kenneth C. Haynes, 26, is charged with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident after the car he was driving left the road and hit a utility pole.
It happened around early Thursday morning around Peachtree Street.
Officers found Haynes walking down East Andrew Johnson Highway a short time after the crash.
Before coming to the sheriff’s department, he worked as a corrections officer with the county.
