Knoxville (WVLT) - Actor/comedian Vince Vaughn is yet another celebrity making Knoxville a stop in promoting his new film. It's called 'Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Show: 30 Days and 30 Nights -- Hollywood to the Heartland.'
WVLT Volunteer TV's Liz Tedone had the chance to sit down with vince to discuss the movie.
Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Show is scheduled to be released in February. The 30 city, 30 day, 30 show tour stars Vaughn and four up and coming comics along with guest stars like Dwight Yoakim.
"You know, what was fun was getting in front of the crowd was a blast. I didn't know when I went to do this, you know, Dwight Yoakim is a good friend of mine, he said no one does 30 days, you're crazy. So you started to feel Fed-Exed from city to city," Vaughn said.
The film documents the crews' road trip across the south. What started out as a benefit show turned into something big.
"It seemed like the coast had soaked up all these shows. You had to go to L.A., New York, or Vegas to see a show, so I really wanted to bring a comedy show to people's backyards, so I wanted to come here through the south and go through the midwest," Vaughn said.
So in the fall of '05, Vince and the gang performed in all the major cities surrounding Knoxville, but Knoxville is now a stop on the promotion circuit.
"The Regal Riviera is part of the newest growth spurt here in Downtown Knoxville. Also, a perfect attraction for Hollywood movie producers to promote their films. In fact, Vince Vaughn is here tonight to personally introduce the private screening," said Karen Lane from Regal Entertainment Group.
And others have come before him, like Jessica Alba and Dane Cook in 'Good Luck Chuck,' Will Ferrell in 'Talladega Nights' and Jessica Simpson, Johnny Knoxville and Sean Williams Scott in 'The Dukes of Hazzard.'
"Regal Entertainment group is the largest exhibitor in the world, so naturally the studios like to work with us," Lane said
