Several New Recalls Announced

(WVLT) - Some experts have called 2007 the "Year of the Recall" and some new recalls seem to prove it.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced several new recalls.

Power Tool Batteries
More than a million Kawasaki power tool batteries are being recalled because they may overheat and melt while charging.

Distributed through Alltrade Tools, the battery pack recall applies to several models which were sold nationwide from September 2005 throught last month.

The batteries were made in China.

Mini Helmets
Riddell is recalling about 2,500 collectible mini racing helmets due to violation of lead paint standard.

The collectible "Jeff Gordon" mini helmets were sold at retailers nationwide from February 2007 through October 2007 for about $40.

You are asked to take the recalled helmets away from young children immediately and contact Riddell to receive a full refund.

Dinosaur Toys
Nearly 10,000 bendable dinosaur toys are under recall by Kipp Brothers for excessive lead.

The product was sold at the Kipp Brothers' showroom, catalog and web site from October 2006 through August 2007 for about $10 per box of 36.

You can return the toy to the place of receipt for a free replacement toy.

Cracker Barrel Art Sets
About 7,800 travel art sets are being recalled by Cracker Barrel Old Country store due to a violation of lead paint standard.

The product was sold at Cracker Barrel Old Country store locations nationwide from April 2007 through August 2007 for about $20.

You are asked to return the product to any Cracker Barrel location for a full refund.

Pooh Play Sets
Lead paint problems are also the reason behind a J.C. Penney recall of 49,000 Winnie-the-Pooh play sets.

The play sets were through the J.C. Penney catalog, web site and outlet stores nationwide from August 2005 through August 2007 for about $40.

You can return the product to any J.C. Penney store for a full refund.

Penney Art Sets
J.C. Penney is also recalling its deluxe art sets due to lead paint concerns.

Nearly 19,000 pieces were sold from September 2005 through August 2007 for about $40.

You can return the product to any J.C. Penney store for a full refund.

Breyer Stirrup Ornaments
J.C. Penny is recalling about 2400 Breyer Stirrup Ornaments, again because of lead paint.

J.C. Penney sold the ornaments through its catalog and web site from august 2006 through august 2007 for about $18.

Return it to any J.C. Penney store for a refund.
