Man Facing Assault Charges After Standoff Involving Pregnant Woman

Knoxville (WVLT) - A man is facing aggravated assault charges after a short standoff with police.

Police say just after 2:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, officers went to a home on Brice Street in East Knoxville to a call of a domestic dispute.

Officers say when they arrived, they could see a pregnant woman against the wall inside the home.

Investigators say a man shut the door to the home before they could get inside.

Negotiators were called in to talk to the suspect.

After about an hour and a half, the woman eventually opened the door and came outside.

The man, whose name is not being released, was taken into custody without incident.

The woman was not hurt.
