Maryville (WVLT) -- The sound of buzzing was the sound of hope thanks to a Blount County teen's friends and family.
Blake Dockery, 13, is suffering from acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a deadly cancer of the white blood cells.
The treatment is very expensive, so family and friends got together on Sunday to raise money for his medical bills, by helping out at Maryville's Envy Salon and Spa.
"We've known Blake since he was a little boy," said Janie Van Dien, the owner of Envy. "His mother and everyone in the family has been friends here for awhile. We worked with his grandmother, Carol at a salon. So what we are doing is trying to help them get over this hump.
They hoped to raise as much money as possible by giving wet hair cuts, manicures and pedicures.
