NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Jury selection is scheduled to begin in Nashville in the kicking death of a two-pound miniature Yorkie.
Chad Crawford is accused of place-kicking the dog, which was held by another man, in an incident that caused community outrage more than three years ago.
Jelani Lewis and Jessica McKenzie sued over the death of their pet Gizmo and a settlement was reached, but the deal fell apart last year and the lawsuit, too, is headed for trial.
Crawford is charged with aggravated animal cruelty and intentionally killing an animal.
The man accused of holding the dog will be tried later.
