JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) -- Former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said he's throwing his support behind former Tennessee senator Fred Thompson.
Frist, who abandoned a widely expected presidential bid last year, says Rudy Giuliani won't get the GOP nomination because his values are off where the base of the Republican Party is.
He spoke with reporters before delivering a speech at East Tennessee State University this week.
Frist noted that approval rates for Congress have slumped after he left and he doesn't expect that to change until the 2008 presidential election is over.
