Knoxville (WVLT) Some big changes on the way for the Knox County Commission that should give you more input in their decisions made.
Volunteer TV's Kim Bedford has more.
Today is the last day the County Commission will meet at 2:00 pm, at least for the next two months.
The Commission unanimously voted to move their monthly meeting to 5:00 pm to allow for more input from the working public.
They recommended the beer board meet at 3:00 pm, zoning at 4:00 pm, and then commission at 5:00 pm.
They decided this will be on a trial basis for November and December, and then they'll revisit it in January to see if it's been helpful.
One Knox County citizen stepped up and expressed his gratitude.
Jim McCevvers says, "I appreciate the time adjustment you're trying to make and 5:30 workshops, all accommodate whatever you want to do, and I think it's great you're trying to make this effort to make yourself available in the evenings for the working folks."
The commission also unanimously voted to require that a public hearing time, place and format be determined before any elected official vacancy can be filled by the commission.
All of this is in hope of slowly gaining back the public's trust.
