Sitter Arrested After 3-Year-Old Found Mile Away, Riding Bike In Traffic

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) -- Police in Murfreesboro have arrested a man after a three-year-old boy he was sitting for was found a mile from home, riding a bicycle in traffic.

The police report states a woman saw the child riding in and out of traffic and ran after him.

Officer David Blackwell's report says the woman told him she became concerned when she saw the child riding on a busy road Monday.

Police began searching for the boy's home and called in Human Services officials after about an hour.

They finally located 27-year-old Douglas Wayne Brown of Murfreesboro around 10 a.m., asleep in an upstairs bedroom of the child's home.

The boy's mother was at her job.

Brown is held on a charge of felony child neglect.
