Morristown Cyclist Killed on I-81

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- State troopers say a Morristown motorcycle rider was killed when his bike struck the side of a tractor-trailer rig on Interstate 81.

The Patrol identifies the victim as 42-year-old Mark Standifer and says the rider was southbound on I-81 near the I-40 interchange yesterday afternoon when he tried to merge with traffic from the shoulder and struck the trailer.

He was thrown from the motorcycle.
