KINGSTON, Tenn (WVLT) -- An elderly Roane County man missing for nearly 24 hours has been located.
According to the Roane County Sheriff's Department, Jack Vaughn, 90, disappeared from his home on Vaughn Road, off Dry Hill Road around 4 pm Wednesday.
He was found around 1:50 pm Thursday in the woods, about a mile from a command post the authorities had set up during the search near Rockwood Airport.
Officials on scene say Vaughn was in stable condition.
The elderly man apparently has lived in the tri-county area most of his life, and though he sometimes becomes disoriented, especially at night, he does not have Alzheimer's Disease.
Searchers from the sheriff's department, Rescue Squad, and several volunteer fire departments were called in.
They said that Vaughn was wearing a yellow jacket which made him difficult to locate by helicopter because the leaves are changing.
