Three Tennessee Guard Units to be Mobilized

MEMPHIS, Tenn (WVLT) -- The Tennessee National Guard's 251st Military Police Company will be mobilized on December 8th in support of Orperation Iraqi Freedom.

The unit is made up of 124 soldiers from Lexington, Bolivar and Savannah.

24 are from from Headquarters Company in Lexington, 50 from Detachment 1 in Bolivar and 50 from Detachment 2 in Savannah.

Upon completion of administrative and logistics operations, the West Tennessee Guardsmen will travel to Ft. Dix, New Jersey, for an unspecified period of time where they will undergo specialized training and preparation for deployment overseas.

Since September 11, 2001, more than 12,000 have deployed out of a total of 14,000 soldiers and airman in the Tennessee National Guard.
