Two Boys Hospitalized in Rottweiler Attack

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Two boys were being treated at a Nashville hospital after they suffered serious bite wounds from a Rottweiler.

The boys, whose ages were not released, were playing outside a home in Putnam County Wednesday when their father heard them screaming and ran to pull the dog off of them.

The dog belonged to the man's stepfather and was chained in the yard when it attacked.

Police say the dog's owner, Robert Smith, shot and killed the dog after the attack. He turned over two more animals to a shelter and they were euthanized.

No charges have yet been filed in the case.
