(WVLT) - The family of a four month-old who died of a rare cancer is preparing for her funeral.
Just two months after Mackenzie Grace McMahan was born in June of this year, doctors diagnosed her with Rhabdoid cancer and removed a tumor and a kidney.
The four-month old died Saturday morning at East Tennessee Children's Hospital in Knoxville.
The McMahan family will receive friends Monday, October 29 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Farrar's Funeral Home in Jefferson City.
The service will follow from 8:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
On Tuesday, the procession will meet at the funeral home at noon and drive to Pollard's Cemetery in Kodak for a graveside service at 1:00 p.m.
The family posted this message on their website: "God bless each of you, and we truly appreciate your inspirational messages."
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Mackenzie McMahan Fund at the Little Mackenzie website. You can also post messages to the family on that site. You can find the link below.
A portion of all donations will go to Mackenzie's Rhabdoid cancer research foundation.
