Veteran Knox County Department Director Dies

KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- Knox County Director of Solid Waste John Evans has died.

Evans was 54.

Lorna Norwood, the Deputy Director of Communications for Knox County, confirmed that Evans died at his home Monday morning, apparently of natural causes.

Evans worked for Knox County for over 17 years.

Norwood says he was pushed hard to advance Knox County's recycling program.
