JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) -- East Tennessee State University officials suspect two fires in a dormitory were caused by arson.
The fires occurred about 1:30 a.m. Monday, and 3:10 a.m. yesterday at Lucille Clement Hall.
University Vice President David Collins says the fires were small, and started in kitchenettes on different floors.
Residents were alerted by fire alarms, and evacuated the building. No one was injured.
Officials said they could not comment further because they are still investigating. Authorities have cautioned students, faculty and staff to be aware of any suspicious activity on campus.
