Anderson County (WVLT) - An Anderson County man is recovering in the hospital after search and rescue teams found him in a field this morning.
Authorities spent the night searching for 57 year-old Jim Virnelson after he didn't return from a walk Monday night.
Virnelson's wife says around 11:00 p.m., her husband took their two dogs for a walk.
When he hadn't returned around 1:00 a.m., she called police.
Teams searched through the night, but heavy fog made it difficult.
Around 9:00 a.m., they found Virnelson in a field adjacent to his home.
His wife says he has a history of dementia.
"His wife did notify us that he did have a history of traumatic brain injury which played a part into that," said Jon Knowles with the Anderson County Rescue Squad.
Virnelson was taken to Parkwest Medical Center with a few cuts and bruises.
