NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Gov. Phil Bredesen's office says the Tennessee Air National Guard's 118th Airlift Wing in Nashville will become a training center, keeping its current staff levels.
The unit's C-130 cargo planes will still be transferred to other bases, as recommended in 2005 by the Base Realignment and Closure Commission.
The new training center instead will get other Hercules planes and keep the base occupied with up to 150 students from international forces.
Bredesen sued the Defense Department in an effort to block the decision to move the planes. A federal judge dismissed the lawsuit in June.
