Country Singer Hank Thompson Released From Hospital, Will Retire

DALLAS (AP) -- Country music singer Hank Thompson has canceled the rest of his current tour and retired from singing.

Thompson was recently hospitalized with an undisclosed illness, and is recovering near his suburban Fort Worth home.

The 82-year-old Thompson was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1989. He had 29 hits reach the top 10 on country music charts between 1948 and 1974.

Some of his most famous songs include "Humpty Dumpty Heart" and "A Six Pack to Go."
