KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT/AP) -- An official who helps oversee computer operations at Oak Ridge National Laboratory has been named a vice president at the University of Tennessee.
UT President John Petersen announced that Thomas Zacharia will become the school's vice president for science and technology.
Zacharia will remain in his current role as associate laboratory director for computing and computational sciences.
Officials say the move will strengthen the cooperation between the university and the laboratory. UT is partner with Battelle in managing the lab for the U.S. Department of Energy.
