FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (AP) -- The Army has confirmed that a Fort Campbell soldier was killed in Iraq when an improvised explosive device detonated near her vehicle.
The Army says 30-year-old Second Lieutenant Tracy Alger of New Auburn, Wisconsin died Thursday from wounds suffered in the explosion.
Alger was a quartermaster officer assigned to the Forward Support Company, Third Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, Third Brigade Combat Team.
Alger's mother, Pauline Knutson, says family and friends put up a memorial Saturday in Wisconsin.
