West Knoxville (WVLT) - Nearly two dozen people do not have gas service after a construction crew hit a line.
The Knoxville Fire Department says the crew hit a 1/2 inch line at about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday on Lonas Drive near Weisgarber Road.
Firefighters and HazMat crews responded to the scene immediatly to make sure there were no accidental explosions after the break.
They shut down both roads as a precaution.
After about an hour, KUB valved off the broken line and the fire department opened Lonas and Weisgarber back up.
KUB says they are now working to repair the line and turn gas service back on for the 23 customers that do not have it right now.
Once service is back on, KUB will have to go door-to-door to re-light the pilot lights in the homes.
If the customer is not home, KUB will leave a note on the door asking the customer to give them a call when they get home.
