KELLER, Texas (AP) -- Country singer Hank Thompson has died of lung cancer. He was 82.
Thompson died last night at his Keller, Texas, home just days after canceling his tour.
Spokesman Tracy Pitcox says Thompson was battling aggressive lung cancer.
Pitcox says the entertainer died peacefully surrounded by his friends and family.
Thompson had 29 hits reach the top ten, between 1948 and 1974.
His album "The Wild Side of Life" reached number one in 1952.
Some of Thompson's most famous songs include "Humpty Dumpty Heart" and "A Six Pack to Go."
The last show Thompson played was October 8th in his native Waco, Texas.
